YELLOW BANKS: CAPTURING PERSONALITY & INDIVIDUALITY

FREELANCE CLIENT WORK 2023

ILLUSTRATION | LAYOUT DESIGN | TYPOGRAPHY

What started as doing occasional flyer commissions from a small town band, turned into a massive project. Yellow Banks came to me for monthly flyer art in 2023. I’m always glad to help out a band from the local music scene.

Yellow Banks brings fun and energy to the stage with them, which is exactly what I wanted to capture within the flyer art, along with using my printmaking background. Even with tight deadlines, each poster has their own eye catching individuality through flexing my creative freedom. The posters were based on factors that included location, theme, and venue.

ALBUM COVER

During the middle of 2023 in between shows, Yellow Banks was in the studio recording for their first album. I was tasked with making the cover art and package for the album. They wanted to showcase a dive bar on the cover, inspired by “Nighthawks” by Edward Hopper. I played with the idea and used the color scheme from the painting, but created a different story. The man sitting at the bar is stuck in a sort of limbo with his vices, while the ghostly silhouettes represent the people who come and go around him, a central theme in the album revolves around this. The front and back of the album connect together to make one full image.
